The kingdom holds its peace through open trade, and the crown keeps the roads clear so the markets never close. Anyone who shows an unusual power is taken by the Ashen Watch and never tried, so gifts are hidden, denied, or sold to the temple as rumour.
Filem
Starts at FernhollowA quiet country kid who is average at nearly everything, until a light began answering him in the fields. Only a handful of people in the kingdom share a gift like his, and proving it earns a death with no trial, yet he wants power, godhood, and people who pray to his name. He's planning to move to the captial and start a religion. His pride grows when his followers grow and become more secretive.
Looks likeA lean, ordinary young man of about eighteen with sun-freckled skin, shaggy brown hair and a plain patched wool coat over a rope belt. He keeps a cracked hand mirror in his pocket, his only tool for aiming the light.

Where you'll go6
Fernhollow
A low village of thatch and bean fields where everyone knows everyone's business. Filem grew up here, and the harvest has been kind enough that the road to Cardew is open.
Hesta Vane- Cardew MarketA wide stone square under striped awnings where the Concord trades lamps, grain and gossip. Broad beams shade the stalls, and the smell of fried onions covers quieter conversations.
Oris Tamble - Temple of the Measured DawnA white stone temple whose long hall is lined with sealed record cases and one very clean window. The priests here speak softly and write down everything they hear.
Adelie Fenn - Ashgate BarracksA grey fort on the city's north side where the Ashen Watch drills, keeps its long register of names, and does not encourage visitors.
Qunef Drost and Iven Drost - The Under-ArchiveShelf stacks beneath the temple, lit by lamps on chains, holding records the public is never shown. The air is dry, the ladders are old, and the door is usually locked.
Corvin Loam - Bell Hill ShrineA ruined shrine on a grassy hill above the valley, with a cracked bell and a view of every road in and out. Few people climb here now, which makes it a good place to be unheard.
